Even though I’m “officially” an interior designer (which, by the way, is still surreal for some reason… I don’t know why it’s such an identity crisis, you’d think I just went brunette or something. This is what I’ve always wanted to do! Is that a label that actually applies to me?! Is this real life?? But it is. The designer part, not the brunette part. Keeping the identity crises to a minimum over here) …anyway, I feel like nobody really knows exactly what I do. I don’t often share details with people other than my coworkers because, well… the general population doesn’t appreciate it the way I do (read: nobody cares that I’m giddy over a pillow combination) Haha so in case you were wondering or even if you weren’t I thought I would share a little taste of what I do.
I went out to this client’s home a few months ago. She needs help with a few different areas but for now we are focusing on this room right inside the front door. It is intended to be a formal dining space, but she wants to use it as an office. She already had the rug and the desk but we needed to finish out the room, plus she needed some printer storage, etc.
Her style is colorful, bohemian and fun so we decided to order this super cool console and art for the big wall:
It looks so great! The fiddle leaf fig in the corner is her own tree which typically belongs in the kitchen, but we brought it in to see how it filled in the space and we really liked it there, so we will be on the hunt for some other greenery. I also snagged her a few bright fuchsia peonies to put in the white vase she bought (pictured here on the far left of the console), to pull out that exact color in the artwork.
It will be the prettiest pop of color! Number one thing on the to-do list now is for her to replace the chandelier, and that lovely green thing on the ceiling. 😉 We have some really cool ideas in store for that… followed by flooring, shelving and accessories.
Stay tuned, and hopefully I will get to post on this space again later when it’s closer to completion 🙂 That is, if you get excited about things like shelves and rugs. (Like me.)
